Alright, we got pummeled with the tail end of Ike. Lots of downed trees, ripped up roofs, torn up telephone poles, and so on. We went without power for a couple days and wouldn't have phone lines for a week.. so we switched back to cable modem. How damned nerdy.

Nobody I knew got hurt, just out some power.

Phew.

Showed up like a dirty refugee at my sister in law's, begging for a hot shower. Good times!

The good? My brother's had a small miracle. When he went to have his liver enzymes tested, they were ridiculously high. Pretty much a death sentence sort of high. He came north to visit mom, has been a good boy, been drinking lots of water and eating grilled foods. And sleeping. Sleeping a lot.

He heads back to the doctor and his enzyme levels are almost normal. He won't have to get chemo. The doctor told him he was very surprised, that 'I didn't expect to see you again alive.' Jesus.

So he's in the clear, for now, and as long as he lives clean, he will stay that way. Maybe it will scare him straight, and I hope so. He's been given a second chance.

not everyone's been so lucky in their health, however. Had a brother-in-law pass away really suddenly yesterday morning. Lu's sister had been married to him for 16 years. They have two boys, around 12 and 10 years old or so. She's pretty much inconsolable and we've been playing distraction with the boys.. playing video games and being silly and trying to keep them from thinking too much.

Lu's family is huge and close-knit and everyone will take care of each other. He thinks the world of his siblings, really.

So I'm going to be a spotty presence on the 'net for awhile. Sorry for anyone trying to get ahold of me. I'll talk back atcha soon.

Got a nice phone call from my mother. My brother's been sick and they finally found out what was wrong with him.

He has Hepatitis C. You know, the kind that can only be killed by chemotherapy, like he has fucking cancer.

He's had it for ten years, ever since he was a dumbassed 19 year old who got a tattoo in a fucking motel room, from some moron who just got out of jail.

Of course he's uninsured at this point, too sick to work, has three kids, so on, so forth.

 I haven't talked to him in years. A lot of the things he has done has made me angry. I resent him, sometimes, because I feel he gets a lot of attention by being.. well.. helpless with money, by making bad decisions. Nobody's had to bail me out of jail. Nobody's had to send me emergency money. I know it's probably misplaced on my part, but it's still there.

I need to make a phone call.

Christ.

I've been acting like an adult person for the past week, I suppose. I haven't been going to bed until the afternoon, getting up just before work.

We put a bid in for a house, and we've been up doing paperwork and all that good shit. Today's when we're supposed to know whether or not the bid gets accepted. After that, we have to do lots of running about to get the best deal on a loan, and get a home inspection arranged. If all goes well, we'll close August 30th.

If not, I'll be heartbroken, cause I already love the place. Mmmph. It's filthy, but with some love, it'll be nice. -toasts with plum wine- :d

Sorry for not being around as often and all that.

Anyway, finished up Dr. Horrible, the third act was NOT what I was expecting, but still. Damn. The songs are catchy. Go google it if you haven't seen it yet, as I think they're going to be pulling them down for DVD release soon. My fond hope is that this is a very informal pilot for a series of some variety. Now that would be lovely.

Been catching up on my Avatar goodness, slowly. The last bit I have left to watch is the Sozin's comet movie, which I think is three episodes. Been avoiding the hell out of any avatar stuff because I don't want it spoiled. Damn kids.

Will be trying to go to the Protomen concert on the 24th, if nothing weird happens that day to interrupt it.

Wish I had more time for art. And writing. I ACTUALLY HAD A STORY IDEA. I MIGHT WRITE!!! Isn't that AMAZING?

The good news? I got to see Weird Al in concert. Fantastic show. The place reeked of virginity. So many 19 year old kids there with their moms.

Lots of fun, even if there were a few folks there that made me embarassed to be white n nerdy.

The bad? I've been stoned up on steroids and antihistamines for days now, since I had some sort of allergic reaction to SOMETHING at work and broke out in hives.

That was new and unpleasant. And itchy.

So I'm not here much. Not feeling so great. The medications are kicking my ass.

Yes, we had an earthquake here. It was a 5.4, somewhere on the 'pussy' scale of things, but still weird. This place does not EVER get earthquakes. We've had a couple little rumbles, too, some minor aftershocks, and I'm tired of things shaking around my house and flipping out the dogs.

Apparently this started way off and Illinois and was felt all the way in New York.

The people in California are laughing at us right now.

Fuck you. Eat a turd sandwich and choke on it. Only two people in my department are actually worth anything, and Bossman's on vacation.. R had her day off.. probably why everything is going to hell.

Me: Hey, S, are all the movies on that cart back there?

GUESS WHAT, SPORTS FANS?! THE MOTHERFUCKING MOVIES WERE NOT ON THE CART! The lanky piece of crap looked me right in the face and LIED TO ME. LIED. TO. ME. I put up with so much incompetence that it isn't funny, but the second somebody lies to me, I flip my shit!

So I had to track down Little B, one of the managers, and beg and whine and pleadpleadplead to get her to get the big ole' security box open for me, and I was sweating and tired and heave-ho-ing all them boxes onto the damn cart they were supposed to bloodyfuckinwellbeonARGHH~ and guess, just GUESS, haaha, of course 90% of the movies I needed were not in there either! I have no idea where they got stuck at, in receiving fucking somewhere, hidden away in the darkest halls of the warehouse. I was alone, not allowed to leave the floor, and I didn't give a shit anymore. I told everyone to just fucking call back later.

I didn't get 28 Weeks later, and I needed my zombie gore-fest NOW, and.. yeah. Didn't get it.

Also HeyKiddo, one of the day managers, was there so I didn't really get to wear my headphones and MP3 player like I usually do. I was afraid he might jump up my ass and actually learn my name.

Mowi, if you're reading this, I was trying to listen to the new Nightwish CD and barely got to. How sad. Sad panda is me. It's a cool CD so far, though.. did they change singers or something? Ah well..

Two days off and I think I'm gonna be drunk through most of it. :D

Will keep this short as I am tired and my eyes are burning. Just saw the last Harry Potter and it was mostly good. Had some awkward progression in some places and some things that were chopped that I would have liked to see, but I understand things have to be cut to make a movie.. you know, watchable in under six hours. Luna was spot-on, terribly adorable. Needed more Fred and George.

I'm an old pervert but I have dirty thoughts about Daniel Radcliffe.

Not been posting, really, because it's been the same old. Work, home, sleep. I am not terribly exciting. I sort of like it that way. Just woke up after finally getting a day off and sleeping too much.. and I have the E-3 preshow going on. My God. G4 has something I will watch for once.

Saw Transformers and I'm in love. In love with a fucking car-bot. I love that incarnation of Bumblebee. I know it's not canon from the old show, but I wasn't that huge of a fan as a kid. I was more into Voltron and Thundercats. So I guess it's not my fond memories being raped. Lu really liked it and he's a crazy fanboy, so, there you go. I don't like some of the appearances changes they made, especially Starscream just looks.. bad.. but inmotion they work very well. They pushed a little of the humor into pure obnoxiousness at some points, a couple lines a little annoying, but nothing that detratced TOO much from the 'holy shit, ROBOTS!' feeling. Worth seeing. We now have toys, one of which -I- bought. Vroom vrrom, Bumblebee.

I beat both of the Pheonix Wright games and am now sad, as I have to wait for September until I get more fruity lawyer fun. I'm terribly in love with Edgeworth. Hell, I like Pheonix himself, too. Most of the characters are very likeable, and it feels real, REAL good to nail some of these people to a wall. I got Lu into playing it and I hear him yell 'Gotcha, BITCH' into the glowing face of his DS, which amuses me. I thought it unlikely that he'd enjoy it. Weird little games.

I got a new monitor. Lu was feeling.. ah, generous? He was trying to surprise me and drug me out to best buy because they were having a sale. By the time we got there, however, the ones that were on sale were gone. We ended up going to Wal-Mart and using my discount to get one comparitively priced, and it's a real beast. 20 inch LCD. With my graphics card, I hooked it up through DVI cable, and it sure is pretty. Nice to watch things on. WoW looks great, too. My other one was.. seven years old. Yeah.

Now I need to draw for him lots. Guess I'll get started on that. Heh.

Had a decent trip until I had to deal with him for more than a half an hour and I wish he would just die already. Rude crusty old prick. Waste of flesh. And my mom enables his bad behavior, lets him get away with murder, puts up with bullshit that I cannot even FATHOM. She's insane. Just.. -foams- I want to spend time with her, I hardly ever get to see her, but when he's around.. I can't get her attention, I can't get ANYthing from her. Jesus, she moons over him like he's Brad Goddamn Pitt. I DO NOT GET THIS.

On a good note, I got cute pictures of her cat, who is an adorable psychokitty.

I want to go home and hug my Lila.

I've been playing lots of Pheonix Wright and I got Lu addicted, I think.

Going to Gatlinburg Sunday, going to stay a couple days with my mom and her parents. I either have good or bad timing because my grandfather is not well. Yipee.. at least I'll be around to distract his crazy wife, I suppose. I need to get gifts for them, maybe a cheap-ass little cooler and some soda for the car.

Lila is going to tear the house apart. YAY.

Best Buy messed up so bad. They had the whole box set of Avatar season one for $10.66 in their ad. When I went in the store it was in a tagged spot for that much, too. So I took it up to the cash register.. yeah.. it normally rings up as 52.66. I pointed out the spot in the ad and got it for cheap. The guy was like, wow, that's a shitload.

Also bought Blue Subermarine 6, Underworld Evolution, a couple of cheap GBA games (Gunstar Heroes!!) and.. uh.. the Forsaken are Freaking Metal t-shirt.

I am still about half drunk and tired as hell. :D

I went out to get groceries and came home with a fish.

And the tank, and gravel, etc, etc. Took a couple hours just to let the ph levels settled and the water get all room temperature, bought some flash dried bloodworms, all that good stuff. Mostly black and violet tank, blocked off filter, nice resort for a single fella.

He was almost grey in his little blue-tinted cup of anti-fungal water. After just a while he has brightened considerably; his body is black, shading to aqua, and he's rather attractive. A little thin, though. He ate right away, which isn't normal for a fish in a new tank, and he ate like a little pig at that.

Wonder what to name him..

Just saw the end of season 2 for the Avatar, and I HAVE BLUE BALLS THAT ARE HUGE AND RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGG!!!!! Where is season 3 oh my god. Need now.

So I went through the entire next DVD of Avatar in almost one sitting. Jesus. How did Nick get ahold of this? The show is awesome, just the right mix of humor and tragedy, and all the characters are so fucking interesting. I think I belong to the Zuko fangirl club now. Wangsty fella. I mean Christy has been letting me borrow the DVDs and I've been getting a kick out of them, but they didn't kick me -that- hard until this last one. Now I'm considering trying to download more because I don't wanna wait until the next release.

I have the next two days off. Thank God. Tired but can't sleep.

On another note, I got to tell Dickjay no on something and smile sweetly while I did it. Fuck that guy. I usually have no problems with him but when he fucks up and I TELL him to fix something and he don't, TOO BAD. You double-fucked up, fucker!

Long story short, my schedule this week was WEIRD as hell, only twenty hours, like four days off in a row. I looked at it, talked it over with my coworker and the Competant Night Manager, and we worked it out. The nights Tim ain't there, I need to be. No sweat. That means I still get off like three nights in a row.

I accidently showed up tonight, and guess what, I wasn't supposed to be there then either. I ask Tim if he cares if I go home, he says no, so I buy American Psycho and the newer Dune for dirt cheap. I talk to Jerm and DickJay walks up and tries to tell me that it's my fault I'm not working my normal schedule.

After I told management that my schedule was hosed up WHEN it came out and nothing was fixed. DJ expected me to clock back in and come back to work Sunday.. when I made plans. He's not allowed to do that. I told him no and took great sadistic pleasure out of doing it. Like I'd said, I talked it over with the other manager who knows her shit (even if she's occasionally a harpy, she doesn't fuck up) and Tim didn't care because he's going on vacation this weekend and I'm gonna be stuck by myself. Fuck that.

So I will be broke but I will use the time to recharge and try to do something creative, like FINALLY watching He-man with my friends and painting on Rei some more.

Tonight I cleaned and cleaned and CLEANED and sweet jesus I am glad my phone has an MP3 player on it, because that thing is nice to have when you are scrubbing shit.
